Charles Grad Jr., Chief Financial Officer, has served in this capacity for over 20 years and has been pivotal in operating the group throughout the majority of its history. Charlie is a graduate of New York University, Tisch School of the Arts.
Liz Grad Murphy is the Director of Operations. Liz left her career in corporate America in 2021 to bring her skills and experience to help continue her father’s legacy. Prior to her time with LMG, she worked for two Fortune 50 financial services companies, where she led teams in Talent Acquisition, Business Operations, and Strategy. Liz is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Charles Grad is the Owner and President of Lackawanna Medical Group. For over 40 years, he has practiced Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Grad is a highly experienced GI Endoscopist, having performed more than 40,000 endoscopies that include colonoscopies, gastroscopies, and ERCP’s (a complex procedure for patients with liver, gall bladder or pancreatic problems).
Ashley McDonald has worked for LMG for over a decade. She held the position of Operations Manager, and in the past few years, has become the Director of Quality Operations. Ashley leads the partnership with our Accountable Care Organization and other quality programs and initiatives. She is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University.

Charles Grad, MD is the Owner and President of Lackawanna Medical Group
He has practiced Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at LMG for over 40 years.
Throughout LMG’s history, there have been many other owners, physicians, and medical providers who have contributed their talents and made their mark on the organization, including Dr. Frank Milani and Dr. Richard Gratz. An initial founder of LMG and owner, Dr. Milani was part of the practice for over 50 years. Dr. Grad became the President and sole owner of Lackawanna Medical Group P.C. after the death of his close colleague and partner for over 30 years, the late Dr. Richard Gratz. Dr. Gratz was an excellent physician whose care touched the lives of thousands of patients. His legacy, as well as Dr. Frank Milani’s, will always remain a part of the organization.
Throughout its history and today, Lackawanna Medical Group has remained a multi-focused group with multiple specialties that include Primary Care, Internal Medicine, and Gastroenterology.

LMG is proud to announce that Cara G. Focazio, M.D. has joined Lackawanna Medical Group as a board-certified Internal Medicine physician.
Dr. Focazio believes that exceptional healthcare begins with listening. She is committed to building lasting relationships with her patients by taking the time to understand their unique health goals and developing personalized care plans that support lifelong wellness. With more than a decade of experience in Internal Medicine, Dr. Focazio provides comprehensive primary care focused on preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and helping patients achieve healthier lives through compassionate, evidence-based care.
Prior to joining Lackawanna Medical Group, Dr. Focazio cared for complex, high-risk patients at Jefferson Health / Lehigh Valley Health Network–Pocono, where she led multidisciplinary care teams and coordinated treatment across specialties to improve patient outcomes. She earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, completed her residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Focazio also continues advanced training in Functional Medicine and Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, reflecting her commitment to bringing innovative, patient-centered care to every patient she serves.
